For consistent putting, keep your stroke neat and deliberate

Throwing a dart and playing a snooker shot are both very similar to the art of putting in that can't have too long a backswing. In all three actions, the skill from the player is the ability to create smooth acceleration in a very limited time frame.

The putting stroke is all about taking the putter head back a ‘neat’ distance and then accelerating through. If the putter head goes back too far deceleration occurs.

The stroke is purposefully neat and deliberate, which enables you to accelerate smoothly.
