The professional way to change the height of your shots
Varying your wrist action, not ball position, is the key to hitting higher and lower golf shots
Thank you for watching this Explanar Explains golf instruction video. In today's session, the Explanar inventor, Master PGA Teaching Professional Luther Blacklock, shows you how to vary the height and trajectory of your shots by changing your wrist action. Historically, we have been taught that we should play the ball further forward or further back in our stance to respectively hit higher and lower shots, but this can lead to inconsistencies with strike and spin. For example, if you play the ball too far back in your stance to encourage a lower, more penetrating trajectory, your delivery can become too aggressive and the angle of attack too steep, leading to poorly struck shots with too much spin.
When you either restrict or enhance your wrist action, on the other hand, your delivery into the ball remains the same, so your strike remains consistent. This makes it much easier to control distance.
