Why a pure strike is crucial for consistent putting

One thing that golfers of all abilities can appreciate is that lovely sensation when you hit the ball right out of the sweet spot of the clubface – and you can just feel it right down to your fingertips. And that pure strike is every bit as important in putting as it is with the long game. Let me show you why (see video). If I allow the putter face to hang and I just tap the toe with a coin, you can see that the putter face twists. Again, if I tap the heel, the face visibly twists. However, if you tap the sweet spot, you can hear that the sound changes and the putter reacts in a stable manner.
